Our First House

Hope you enjoyed the walk through 🙂

Hello dear friends!! So I have some big news …….we bought a house!!! Edward and I are so happy. It is a three-story townhouse with a garage. I haven’t told you guys what was going on with the house because, it was such an up-and-down roller coaster.
This house truly is our dream home. The closing this morning was super scary, but it went really fast and it was wonderful to have our realtor there with us. After we signed it felt like we were living in a dream. I was so full of emotions that I was literally shaking.
Ever since we signed the paperwork we have been nonstop working to make it livable. And by livable I, of course, mean clean and filled with the basics. It’s strange that it still smells like the other people so…… we need to change that. I’ve been scrubbing and scrubbing all night. and I am so tired that I am literally talking this blog post to Siri haha. We should probably go get some food… something really bad like pizza or Chinese food. Good night my friends I will keep you all posted!

Ocean Views

Edward and I went to Seabrook beach in East NH last Saturday. It was nice to get away from life for a while and change our surroundings. We have been so blessed…. With such a hard winter behind us we have a warm summer shining on ahead.

Edward never had to stay in Hampton, He is also almost done his HVAC classes, my car survived the cold, Edward even took a chance buying a beater car and it carried us all winter, our crazy schedules co-existed, and the love of my life proposed to me. When winter first began we were faced with issues we thought were unsolvable. It seemed like such a dark uncertain road but we trusted God. With a little faith and a lot of ambition ….we survived!!

And now we have only 7 months until our wedding! 🙂 Not to mention the summer of our dreams ahead of us. This bright blue cold ocean was so fresh smelling and freeing…. We just jumped around on the rocks …and chased the seagulls…. we walked for 4 miles that day.

Wedding Crafts

Man! I miss you all so much, I haven’t written to you since March 8th….. mostly because I have huge news for you on Friday!!! I can’t wait to tell you all about the updates. Tune in Friday 3/25/16 because huge changes will be happening. 🙂

For now, I think we need to talk about ‘Wedding Crafts.’ First off… thank goodness for Pinterest. I can’t imagine not having it. Pinterest has been inspiring all of my wedding crafts!! I haven’t told you guys yet but I plan on making a dummy cake for the wedding and serving sheet cake to the guests 🙂 ….. I know it’s so sneaky…. and affordable! I am a little nervous about making this dummy cake. Because I have never worked with fondant, dowels, or styrofoam before. However, I am an artist so I will approach the cake like a sculpture and canvas. When I attempt to make the cake I will give you guys a detailed blog post along with a Youtube video showing you how I did it.

Another huge win was finally figuring out how I am going to approach the wedding favors. As I was researching wedding favors…. I found almost everything to be really expensive. I mean, sure, a little silk bag for $1 might sound cheap. Until you realize you have to multiply the $1 silk bag times 114 guests. Not even to mention the cost of filling the bags with candy or nuts. Well, I decided to scour Pinterest and the internet until I found an affordable attractive idea. I have finally found the solution! Cute little paper bags painted with metallic craft paint, garnished with a sticker seal, and filled with yummy candies and nuts. I was able to find mini brown paper bags on Amazon (100 quantity) for only $6.00! The bags, being so affordable, are going to save us so much money. I really think they are beautiful and unique. I will make a Youtube video for you all when I make these favors, I know they are going to turn out so pretty.

Growing up Mixed

I love my parents so much. I know I don’t tell them that enough. For the 23 years, I have existed on earth they have been my rock and guidance. Their marriage has withstood the test of time and adversity. When they went to my grandfather to announce their engagement he refused to walk my mother down the aisle. Of course, after he bonded with my dad more, and realized in the end he would lose his daughter …He showed up.
My father was born in the Dominican Republic but was raised in NYC and MA. My mother is Scott-English and her family has been in the United States since the pilgrims. To say the 2 sides of my family are “different” is an understatement. The DR side is so loud, old fashioned, loving, religious, and huge. The English American side is very rigid, polite, awkward, modern and loving ….. But in a more subtle sense.

It’s always been hard to find where I fit in…. I was always too white to fit into the Spanish side. And I was always too dark to fit into the white side… I have this huge pride for my English-Scottish-American heritage. And I have the same level of pride for my Dominican roots ….

Growing up I so badly wanted to associate myself completely with one side. I never quite could. Not many people understand this predicament, but that is because not many people experience it. In my adult life I have come to terms with the fact that I am both!! My heritage and family history is what makes me….. Me and what makes me unique. I am both the great great granddaughter of a prestigious judge…. And the great-granddaughter of a notorious healer/midwife/medicine woman.

Bridesmaids Dresses

My beautiful bridesmaids! Just a couple anyways 🙂 2 other girls still have to get their dresses. It was so cool to see all of these people I love in the same place….. For me. Words cannot express the joy I felt seeing them having fun finding gowns. The only requirement I had for their dresses is that they all must be floor length and available in eggplant. Which they were! I really wanted them all to feel beautiful and wear something that worked for their bodies. I love them for their differences, why would I make them all dress the same?

All this made me imagine the morning of my wedding day, and for the first time ever I actually felt really nervous. I felt sick to my stomach with nervousness hahah. I hope that goes away though. I will just keep my eyes on Edward the whole time.
